Photo Workshop June 10-13, 2010

Grand Tetons in the springtime! With your hosts Nat Coalson and Bret Edge, we'll shoot at all the iconic spots around Jackson Hole, including the Snake River Overlook made famous by Ansel Adams... plus some very out-of-the-way, special places, known only to a few. We'll shoot this majestic landscape in the sweet light of sunrise and sunset and do close-up and wildlife work during the day. We'll focus on composition, creativity and developing the skills to make photographs that fully express your vision.

When we're not out shooting, we'll work in a comfortable meeting room helping you master the digital darkroom using Lightroom and Photoshop.

Throughout the workshop, hands-on demonstrations, lessons and critique sessions will help you refine your image-making skills.

WORKSHOP ITINERARY
Thursday June 10 - our group will meet in the early afternoon in Jackson. After a brief introduction we'll spend the rest of the afternoon shooting around Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park.

Friday June 11 - after a sunrise shoot at Schwabacher Landing, we'll have a short break for personal time. Then we'll spend a few hours working on processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. Following this, we'll venture out to shoot all afternoon and through sunset at places like Jenny Lake and Grand Teton National Park.

Saturday June 12 - essentially the same schedule as Friday, but at all different locations.... Oxbow Bend, Antelope Flats, Mormon Row, etc. You're very likely to see and photograph bears, moose and other large mammals common to the area.

Sunday June 13 - sunrise shoot; workshop concludes.

The workshop is open to photographers working at any level and is limited to 10 participants. A small group size ensures plenty of personal attention for each student. Private and group critiques will be done throughout the workshop to help you develop your work significantly over the weekend. We'll also make sure to have some free time for participants to take a break and do their own thing. (And Yellowstone is just a short drive away.)

Comments from participants in previous workshops:

"This was unquestionably the best workshop I have attended. An almost perfect balance between shooting and image processing/critique, the workshop covered the entire photographic workflow, from pre-visualization to final image critique. I was also impressed with the generous one-on-one time provided by the instructors during the shoots. The suggestions and immediate feedback they provided really made you think about exactly what you needed to do to achieve your vision. Highly recommended!"
Dan, New Mexico

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the photography sessions I have had with Nat. Not only is he personable but knowledgeable in the field of photography.  He adapts very well to all skill levels in a group and makes sure he pays attention to the matters or questions at hand. I learned a lot of my own eye and style when I was able to print off shots from a previous session and have him critique them at our next session."
Chanel, Colorado
